TCNJ students come together after classmate is killed in crash

EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WTXF) - A heartbroken College of New Jersey campus came together to support five of their classmates after one was killed and four others were injured in a crash nearly two weeks ago.

Twenty-year-old Michael Sot was a designated driver helping his friends get home safely on the morning of December 2, when police say an impaired driver crossed over the center lane into oncoming traffic, striking Sot's vehicle.

Sot's father, who shares the same name, poured his heart out to his son's TCNJ family Wednesday night. In response, tears flowed freely in the crowd.

"This is something that you never imagine. This is no phone call any parent any parent wants to get," Sot explained, "The truth is he's been touching lives since he was born right up until he took his last breath. He touched his brother's life who was talking to him at the bedside and listening to every word."

Parents of each crash victim expressed their sadness and utmost gratitude to this giving bunch, largely made up of Greek brothers and sisters. Many have been committed to their friends' hospital rooms for the last 11 days.

Sot's father finished his message with a request.

"We cannot begin to express to you how much you mean to us," he began, "I ask all of you to take a piece of Michael with you carry his name on for a very long time."

The driver of the other vehicle, 22-year-old David Lamar, has been charged with vehicular homicide and several counts of assault by auto.
