Teen struck, killed crossing Route 130 in Bordentown

Cellphone video shows 17-year-old Angelica Volcy the way close friends choose to remember her. They say she had high energy and a vibrant personality.

"She liked food, music and dancing," said Nigja Eluwa and Vincent Wade. Angelica died from in from injuries she suffered after she was hit by a car. Eluwa says they're best friends.

"Me and her have been since forever. There was never a day that me and her were not together," said Eluwa. They worked together at McDonald's on Route 130 in Bordentown. Eluwa says they were together minutes before Angelica was hit around 10:15 last night. They had just left work.

Eluwa says they parted ways when Angelica continued walking to meet her mom at her job.

"We told each other that we loved each other because we always say that and I told her to call me when she got home and she never called me," said Eluwa. It wasn't until this morning that she found out what happened when she got to school at Bordentown Regional High.

"One of our other friends came up to me and told me what happened and I just broke down and cried right there," said Eluwa. Bordentown Township Police say Angelica was in the crosswalk at Route 130 and Crosswicks Road when a woman driving an Infiniti hit her. Witnesses told police the driver had the green light and the right of way. The driver and witnesses stopped to give CPR until emergency crews got there but Angelica died at the hospital.

"So quick, so fast and a little bit of time. You got to enjoy everybody while you can," said Wade. Eluwa added, "It's like so like surreal. I can't believe this is actually happening."

Police say right now there's no evidence of impairment or distracted driving on the part of the driver 35-year old Whitney Tigner but the investigation is ongoing.
