Three pedestrians stuck by vehicle, one woman's leg severed

A terrible accident leaves one woman with a severed leg and two injured after being struck by an SUV.

25-year-old Wesley Concepcion was inside his home at Franklin and Liberty Streets in Trenton when he heard screams. He says a young woman possibly in her 20s had been struck by a gray Dodge Journey SUV right outside his door. Wesley says the woman's leg had been severed and lay nearby.

"I had never seen anything like that," said Concepcion. "I didn't know what to do so I got some cold water and I rubbed her with water and I called the ambulance."

It was just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday when the accident occurred and Trenton Police accident investigators have been working late into the evening trying to peirce together the crash.

Concepcion believes the SUV jumped the curb as the woman and two other pedestrians were walking by.

He says two men were thrown several yards down the pavement but were awake and conscious at the scene.

"They took him with no shirt and he was all scratched up so they got hit pretty hard," said Concepcion.

Concepcion says the driver of the SUV appeared to be conscious and stayed inside the vehicle until police arrived. Authorities blocked off the intersection for several hours. On lookers in the heavily Spanish-speaking neighborhood gathering by the police tape.

"She lost her leg she was stuck there. I didn't know what to do I just started helping," said Concepcion. "God bless her."

As the investigation continues, there have been no reports on the conditions of the victims will be released.
