Uber passenger shot during ride in Southwest Philly

Police are investigating after an Uber passenger was shot in the foot during his ride in Southwest Philadelphia overnight.

A 41-year-old man was driving his grey Honda Accord when he picked up a 22-year-old rider. Police say that, once the pair reached the intersection of 65th Street and Cobbs Creek, someone started shooting at them.

The Uber was hit at least three times. The passenger was shot in the foot.

While the Uber driver was at the police station, the victim took off on foot. He was later picked up by medics and taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Detectives also found a jammed semi-automatic weapon with an extended magazine in the Uber. Police say the firearm could be the passenger's or the shooter's.

The Uber driver is cooperating with police in their investigation.
