Video shows suspected drunk driver crash and flip from I-275

A man says he was almost run off the road by a suspected drunk driver, and he even caught the entire incident on camera. To make matters worse, it happened along the busy interstate.

The man who recorded the video says it unfolded along Interstate 275 last Friday night. His footage shows a black Kia that starts in the right lane, then veers into the middle lane, forcing another driver to change lanes.

The Kia continues to weave in and out of the center, until he gets into the exit lane for Hillsborough Avenue. That's when things get scary.

The Kia slams into the guardrail and flips. The vehicle can be seen rolling down an embankment but somehow no one, including the driver, was injured in the crash.

The man who recorded the video said he was nearly hit just moments before the crash and he felt like something like this might happen.

"I've seen that a lot of times, people texting or whatever, as soon as you honk the horn the first time, they get back into their lane and apologize with their hand out the window and they keep moving," explained Arber Novaku. "But this guy kept swerving left and right, swerving left and right. That's what got me recording the guy and following the guy."

Troopers arrested 27-year-old Daniel Anthony Buchholz and charged him with driving under the influence. In his arrest report, officers said he showed slurred speech, poor balance, and a sleepy appearance. He allegedly smelled like alcohol and admitted he was drinking beer.

Buchholz spent the night at the Hillsborough County Jail. He's facing several charges including DUI, causing property damage, and refusing to take a breathalyzer test.
