The California storms -- pummeling the state for more than two weeks - are the most deadly natural disasters in modern history.

A daycare worker said she hovered over infants as the tornado approached Selma, Alabama. She's thankful that only one baby received a cut on her forehead and cheek.

Tornado-warned storms producing "damaging winds and hail" moved through the Southeast Thursday, causing injuries in parts of Alabama, according to the National Weather Service.
