Report takes closer look at Philadelphia-area college campus crime rates

As parents begin to move their children into various Philadelphia colleges in the coming days, campus safety is on the top of everyone's mind.

BillyPenn.com put together a report ranking six local schools in the Philadelphia area in a number of different crime categories.

The schools were ranked by overall crime, sexual assault and relationship violence, drug and alcohol crimes, and hate crimes.

The schools included in the study include Villanova, Temple, St. Joes, Drexel, the University of Pennsylvania, and La Salle.

Billy Penn's Anna Orso broke down the overall crime numbers for each category and then came up with an adjusted crime rate based on each school's full-time enrollment of students and faculty, and created rates based on 1,000 students.

Orso stopped by Good Day Philadelphia Wednesday morning to explain some of their findings in each category. You can watch more on her findings in the video above.
