1 man captured in shooting of Camden detectives; 2 remain at large

CAMDEN, N.J. (WTXF/AP) - One of three men wanted in connection with the ambush of two Camden County detectives is in custody.

Chief Scott Thompson confirmed Saturday evening that Juan Figueroa was arrested without incident in Gloucester City, New Jersey.

Authorities continue their search for 26-year-old Ammar Hall and 19-year-old Alexander DeJesus, who are considered armed and dangerous.

The three men have been charged with with attempted murder, aggravated assault and weapons offenses.

The Camden County prosecutor's office says the two plainclothes Camden County detectives were sitting in an unmarked police sport utility vehicle at a red light on August 7 in Camden when someone fired between 10 and 25 rounds at them. One of the detectives was able to return fire, but it's not clear if anyone else was shot.

The male detective suffered wounds to the bicep and forearm. The female detective was struck in the hand. Both have been released from the hospital and are recovering from their injuries.

Neither has been named because of the undercover nature of their work.

A $60,000 reward is still being offered in the case.
