13-year-old boy killed in West Oak Lane double shooting: police

A shooting during a pickup basketball game in Philadelphia claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy and left another badly injured.

What we know:

Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 7100 block of North 19th Street just before 9 p.m. for reports of a shooting. 

Police found 13-year-old Amir Akers suffering from gunshot wounds to the back and shoulder, and a 14-year-old shot in both legs. 

The teens were brought to Jefferson-Einstein Hospital by police, where Akers was pronounced dead and the 14-year-old was placed in stable condition before being taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters at the crime scene that they believe the shooting erupted during an altercation while the teens were playing basketball. 

What we don't know:

No arrests have been made in the deadly shooting and police have not provided a description of a possible suspect.
