3 teens shot during violent night in Grays Ferry

Three teenage boys are recovering in the hospital after being shot overnight in Grays Ferry.

Police said just after midnight, a foot patrol officer responded to reports of gunfire near 26th and Dickinson streets.

He was approached by a 17-year-old at 27th and Dickinson who said he was shot in his left thigh in the 1500 block of S. Etting Street. Medics took him to the hospital in stable condition.

Then, officers found two other shooting victims in the 1500 block of S. Etting Street.

They were a 16-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to the right thigh, and a 16-year-old suffering from a gunshot to the right buttocks area. Both of them are listed in stable condition.

Police told FOX 29's Jennifer Joyce it seems two sides fired at least 12 shots. They don't know whether the victims were intended targets or hit by stray bullets. In fact, they're not ruling out that the victims may have been shooting.

Police also said the teens should not have been out because past midnight is past curfew.

All three teens are expected to be OK. Police do not have a motive, have not made any arrests, and recovered no weapons.

They said someone responsible may have been "operating a newer model 4-door white Nissan Maxima or Altima."
