4 injured, dog rescued from Bristol Township house fire

Four family members are hospitalized after a fire tore through their Bristol Township home early Wednesday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 11000 block of Edgely Road around 5:15 a.m. for a report of a house fire with someone trapped in the basement.

Three people were out of the home when firefighters arrived on the scene. A fourth resident was standing in the rear doorway and was turned over to paramedics.

One of the family's adult sons had reportedly gone back inside the house to try to save the family's pets. It's unclear whether all the animals were saved, though Fire Chief Brian Cirard says one of the three dogs was rescued after being seen running in and out when crews arrived.

Three of the four family members were transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital's burn unit. The extent of the victims' injuries is unknown at this time.

Neighbor Judy Langsdorf tells FOX 29 that she heard knocking on her door in the middle of the night and was afraid to answer before seeing a shivering teenage boy wearing only shorts outside.

"He said, 'My house is on fire -- help, call the fire department, my family's in there,'" she recalled.

Officials say the fire started on a couch in the basement, spreading to the first and second floors.

The fire was placed under control around 6:15 a.m.
