A mother's photo of her 6-year-old daughter's selfless act of kindness towards a homeless man is touching the hearts of many after going viral on Facebook.
Kenyatta and her 6-year-old daughter, Janiyah, noticed a homeless man crying as they were leaving a store in Virginia, according to TheHuffington Post.
Kenyatta snapped a picture after her daughter approached the man, and shared photo along with the touching story on Facebook.
According to Kenyatta's post, Janiyah approached the man after mentioning he looked like he may be "hot and thirsty."
Janiyah asked the man why he wouldn't go home instead of sitting on the dirty ground, and the man told her that he was homeless.
The concerned 6-year-old made her mom "stop and think" after she gave the man a few dollars, and suggested he go to McDonald's.
Kenyatta was even more touched after learning the homeless man's story.
"We had a small conversation and he explained his trailer burnt down and he lost everything including his wife. I felt for him," Kenyatta told Today.
The man's "whole face lit up" after Janiyah's selfless act, and Kenyatta said the man was surprised to see this coming from someone so young.
Kenyatta's Facebook post has over 180,000 shares as of Tuesday, and Janiyah's act of kindness has inspired them to start a GoFundMe campaign to help others in need.
Kenyatta and Janiyah are asking for donations of food, water, clothes and shoes to hand out to others in need, and they have already exceeded their $1,000 goal.
