ALDI commits to reusable, recyclable, compostable packaging by 2025
FOX 35 ORLANDO - ALDI recently announced that they will, through a series of commitments, help combat the global plastic crisis.
By 2025, 100% of ALDI packaging, including plastic packaging, will be reusable, recyclable, or compostable. They will also reduce packaging material across its entire range by at least 15 percent.
ALDI says they are committed to working with their supplier to achieve their goals. They hope to meet the following deadlines:
"ALDI has never offered single-use plastic shopping bags. And while we're pleased that we've helped
keep billions of plastic grocery bags out of landfills and oceans, we want to continue to do more," said ALDI U.S. CEO Jason Hart.
For more than four-decades, ALDI has never offered single-user plastic grocery bags. Shoppers usually bring their own reusable bags, the grocery chain says. They estimate that this has helped keep about 15 billion single-use plastic bags out of landfills and oceans.
