American Airlines flight makes emergency landing in Philadelphia after experiencing mechanical issue

An American Airlines plane bound for Maine was forced to make an emergency landing after experiencing a mechanical issue Wednesday morning.

A spokesperson for American Airlines told FOX 29 News Flight 5422 took off from Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C.

The plane needed to make an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport after "experiencing a nose gear steering issue."

Officials say 64 passengers and four crew members were aboard the flight bound for Portland, Maine.

The passengers were provided with a new flight to their destination, and the damaged aircraft has been scheduled for repairs.
