POINT PLEASANT BEACH, N.J. (WTXF) - The search for a missing swimmer off the Jersey Shore has come to a tragic end.
The Point Pleasant Beach Police Department reports the body of Zuzana Oravcova, 24, "was recovered in the surf in the area of Ocean Beach II in Toms River."
She was found by people living there who called Toms River police, and then pronounced dead at the scene by the Ocean County Medical Examiner's Office.
According to police, "At this point in the investigation, all signs indicate this being a tragic accident and no foul play is suspended."
Oravcova disappeared after 2 a.m. Sunday, and had been with a friend -- Thomas Kadlec, 23 -- both visiting from Slovakia. Authorities say he immediately notified an employee of the boardwalk who reported the incident to the police department.
Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay responded.
According to the Coast Guard, "Both parties were in distress, due to the high surf conditions. Kadlec was able to swim ashore. Oravcova did not."
