Boy, 13, writes heartbreaking letter about being bullied, then kills himself

There's a shocking, devastating story about a boy that's exploding on social media, and for very good reason. The 13-year-old told in his own words about what happened in school that led him to take his own life.

The cause was bullying.

According to Danny Fitzpatrick's sister, "He took his own life because of the years of bullying took on his otherwise happy, caring and loving spirit."

His father - also named Daniel - posted pictures and memories on his Facebook page. He also spoke out in an emotional video that in some parts went off on the other children's parents - calling their kids "monsters" -- and in others, what he misses most. Warning about language some may find objectionable.

Friends of the family posted the letter that they say "his parents asked everyone to get his story out."

His loved ones started a GoFundMe page that reads in part: "On Thursday, August 11, we lost our son, brother and friend, Daniel Joesph Fitzpatrick. At just 13 years old, he took his own life because of the years of bullying took on his otherwise happy, caring and loving spirit. We want to give Daniel a proper memorial, as well as shine a bright light on the bullying that killed him."
