Camden County reports 12th adenovirus case
VOORHEES TOWNSHIP, N.J. (WTXF) - Health officials in Camden County report a 12th case of adenovirus Thursday.
The Voorhees Pediatric Facility reported to the Camden County Department of Health two additional cases at that facility. There are 12 residents who tested positive for adenovirus, in total.
The adenovirus strain is identified as Type 3. Officials say this is a less strong stain.
Voorhees Pediatric Facility stopped all new admissions on November 1, until further notice. They have separated individuals in the facility based on illness and exposure. Adenovirus has a long incubation period; therefore, the facility expects to see more cases, officials say.
Adenovirus is a respiratory virus. Symptoms include common cold, sore throat, bronchitis, pneumonia, diarrhea, pink eye, fever, bladder inflammation, among other health issues.
