Couple shot inside Torresdale home with child inside; suspects sought after torching couple's car

TORRSEDALE (WTXF) - Police are investigating after a couple was shot inside its Torresdale home with a 2-year-old child inside.

The incident happened around 4 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say two masked men gained entry to a home on the 9400 block of Torresdale Avenue through its back door. The suspects allegedly accused the couple -- a 39-year-old man and 37-year-old woman -- of being drug dealers before stealing a safe containing diamonds and $80,000.

The men then allegedly shot the couple and took of with its truck.

The victims were both transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where they are listed in stable condition.

Police say the couple's truck was found abandoned and torched on I-95 at Bridge Street a few hours later.

Authorities are still searching for the suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
