Dad posts emotional video expressing what he knows about Down syndrome

A father whose 5-year-old son has Down syndrome has posted an extremely emotional video online after he overheard a conversation another father and his child were having.

This is important for me to say. Excuse my emotion.Kelly Macintosh-Scott.

According to the Huffington Post, on February 20, Robb Scott from Nova Scotia, Canada was browsing through movies at a store when he heard a son ask his father, "What's Down syndrome?"

The boy's question was in response to a baseball film that features a character with Down syndrome, the Huffington Post reports.

The boy's father then responded, saying that Down syndrome is "an illness of not knowing anything."

In Scott's video, he tells the story and expresses his regret that he did not speak out and tell the truth about the condition that his son, 5-year-old Turner has.

Posting this one pic of my sons so people can see who the video was about. For those new to my page who've been a little...

"I didn't step up for my son and for other people with Down syndrome, and that was devastating for me in that moment," Scott said to the camera. "So I just wanted to right that publicly for myself."

In tears, Scott says, "Down syndrome is literally one of the most beautiful things that's ever happened to my life."

"It's fun. It's brilliant. It's amazing. It's funny. It's kind. It's loving. It's cuddly," he continues. "They're great teachers, people with Down syndrome. It is not an illness."

The video has since been viewed more than 1.3 million times, with thousands of comments expressing love for Scott and his family.

In the video, Scott says that he didn't intend to "get emotional and be and exhibitionist," but he explained in the video's caption that it was "important" for him to express what he did not say in that moment.
