Deadly Tuesday morning shooting marks Trenton's 37th homicide

Authorities in New Jersey's capital city are investigating another homicide as a recent surge in gun violence continues.

The Mercer County Homicide task force is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred on the 200 block of Pearl Street around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators say officers responded to calls for a man shot, and found a man in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived at the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The victim's identity has yet to be released as police work to notify his family.

Tuesday morning's shooting marks the 37th homicide in Trenton so far in 2020. The city recorded just 16 homicides in 2019 and 17 in 2018.
