Delaware Couple Charged With Murder of Their Baby

The Delaware State Police announced Friday that they have arrested the mother and father of their baby, who was injured while in their care and later died.

Doyle J. Hundley, 37, and Casey R. Layton, 28, were arrested Thursday and charged with Murder by Abuse and Endangering the Welfare of a Child Knowingly Act in a Manner Likely to Injure thus Causing Death (Felony).

The eight-month-old baby, Aiden R. Hundley, died in September. Four months earlier, police had responded to a 911 call that the baby had suffered a seizure and was barely responsive. The baby, who had multiple broken bones and a serious head injury, remained on life support until his death.

After an autopsy ruled the death a homicide due to blunt force trauma, further investigation revealed other injuries which, police said, "would have been obvious to any caretaker."

Another son of the couple was placed in the care of the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families
