Deputies in Colorado have standoff with tiny owl

BOULDER COUNTY, CO -- A teeny-tiny owl came face to face with deputies in Boulder County, Colorado and the pictures from the confrontation are getting a warm reception on Twitter.

According to the Boulder County Sheriff, deputies were driving on a road close to an undisclosed campground when they stumbled across the fluffy little owl.

It is known as the Northern Saw-whet Owl.

The sheriff's twitter account claims the owl was a baby - however, the Northern Saw-whet Owl is a tiny bird. It only measures around 8-inches long when it reaches adulthood.

After staring down the deputies for a short time, officials say the bird took flight without incident.
