WTXF/AP - In a horrifying story out of Arkansas, more than 50 dogs were found dead this week in a remote forest area.
According to local TV station KY3, employees of a lumber mill made the gruesome discovery while looking for timber tracts. The dogs, 57 in total, were found "bullet-riddled," according to the report. Of those, five were found alive but had to be euthandized.
The local sheriff told the station that he believes the dogs were taken to the site, fed poison and shot. According to the AP, the dogs were fed hot dogs laced with sleeping pills.
Four dogs, however, survived the massacre and were brought to the Searcy County Humane Society shelter..
