Philly International celebrates all things Eagles ahead of Super Bowl LIX

It was party time at the gates of Philadelphia International Airport as Eagles fans headed to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX.

The Brief

    • The party started at the airport gate for Eagles fans bringing big Philly energy to New Orleans.
    • A pep rally in Terminal D featured Philly-themed foods, Eagles merchandise and hype music.
    • The Eagles energy is contagious and could be felt all around the Greater Philadelphia area as many prepare to host Super Bowl parties at home.

PHILADELPHIA - Flights out to New Orleans were taken over by an Eagles Pep rally at the Philadelphia International Airport.

Over a dozen direct flights were scheduled for Friday, and eight are leaving Saturday.

Eagles excitement:

"We got seven people going. One is driving and they’re all sons-in-law, grandsons and brothers-in-law to be," said Ken Brownell of Moorestown.

"I’m getting my hair blown out tomorrow. I made an appointment in New Orleans. I have my eye patches," said Lily Grossinger. "It’s [my mom’s] first football game of her life. Isn’t that crazy?"

"Green was never my color. I love it now. I’m wearing green. I’m going Go Eagles. I know all the chants, so if they can convince me, they can convince anyone," said Roslyn Grossinger. "Be an Eagles fan, it’s fun, fun. Go Eagles!"

Alphonso Rowell of Glenside said he’s flying down to Texas to catch a Super Bowl cruise.

"Mardi Gras, Super Bowl doing all that, and Valentine’s Day. Seven-day cruise," said Rowell.

Eagles fever:

The big Eagles energy could also be felt in and around the Greater Philadelphia Area.

We met Dolores Mason at a merchandise tent in Brookhaven. She was shopping for new Eagles gear for the Super Bowl.

"I got ‘It’s a Philly Thing,’ all day long, come on Eagles we got to win this," said Dolores Mason.

Sheila Bright was on the hunt for an Eagles flag to fly for her Super Bowl party in Chester.

"Yeah listen, it’s going down, ribs and salmon, yeah it’s going down," said Bright. "Greens and mac and cheese, yeah it’s going down."
