Elderly couple in car that hit tree, split car identified

The people killed in a horrific crash were an elderly couple who hit a tree on the side of the road.

SKYFOX was over the scene in Burlington County, Monday afternoon, where their 2015 Chrysler 200 was pretty much cut in half.

Pemberton Township police say Blackwell S. Albertson, 78, was driving eastbound on Route 70 when he drove off the east shoulder near Passadena Road, traveled about another 500 feet, and then hit the tree.

The emergency call came in, saying he and his wife -- Jean S. Albertson, 77 - were entrapped.

Both victims - from Manchester, Ocean County -- had been wearing their seatbelts, but still didn't make it.

Mr. Albertson died at the scene and Mrs. Albertson died a short time later after being flown to a Trenton hospital.

The collision remains under investigation and police ask anyone with more information to call them at 609-894-3308, or the confidential tip line at 609-894-3352.
