Families Displaced by Condo Fire in Northeast Philadelphia

Several families forced out of their homes overnight Sunday, after flames rip through a condo complex in Northeast Philadelphia.

Officials say Building D of the condo units on the 2100 block of Welsh Road were completely destroyed, after a fire broke out after midnight.

Two people in an upstairs unit were transported to Aria Torresdale Hospital with signs of smoke inhalation. They were listed in stable condition.

Fortunately everyone got out safely, thanks largely to a passerby who started banging on people's doors to wake them up.

FOX 29's Jennifer Joyce spoke to residents who said neighbors helped neighbors and made sure that everyone was accounted for.

The fire was placed under control before 1:30 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
