Family pleads for help finding hit-and-run driver that left man injured
NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - A family is pleading for help finding a hit-and-run driver that left a man injured and without a car.
Jose Robles is moving a little slower this week nursing some injuries after being broad-sided by a hit- and-run driver early Tuesday morning. Robles was driving down Allegheny Avenue in his newly restored 2002 Mazda 626 when another driver plowed into him at Howard Street.
"My car completely did a 180--all the way around and I ended up hitting my head and my leg," Robles told FOX 29 after family members contacted us. "The next thing I know all I hear is a smash and me hitting the horn because she just completely sideswiped me."
The video shows the driver of a red vehicle leaving the accident scene. The crash sent Robles and his car spinning around. When he came to a stop and realized the other driver took off. He was angry.
"Whether it was an accident or regardless you don't just leave for something like that. I mean for all she knew I could have been dead from that accident," Robles said.
Robles suffered ankle, leg, back and neck injuries.he also missed work for two days. The crash left him sore and without a car.
"It's just completely destroyed--the insurance . The storage company pretty much everyone said the price to fix it would be the same amount as if i bought a new car," he explained.
But Jose's mom went into action and found surveillance cameras near the accident scene, then downloaded a video.
"My mom should have been an FBI agent. She's good at looking things up and tracking things down," Robles said.
Robles filed a report with police, hoping they could find the hit-and-run driver. FOX 29 also contacted police accident investigators on Robles' behalf. They're getting the video and taking a closer look at the crash and trying to find the hit-and-run driver.
"That'll definitely be great because honestly I don't know what to say now," Robles explained."I'm just upset that somebody could just pull off after causing something like that. That's just ridiculous.
Robles says his insurance company told him his car is not worth repairing because of the damage, towing and storage costs. He's back at work in some pain and hoping police will quickly find the woman driver that left the scene.
