Father Charged in Brendan Creato Case

The father of three-year-old Brendan Creato has been charged with murder in the child's death last October, Camden County prosecutors announced.

David "D.J." Creato, Jr., the boy's father, was charged with first-degree murder and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child by Camden County prosecutors Monday, following a grand jury indictment. It was D.J. who had originally reported his son missing; Creato's body was found hours later, on October 13.

The two-page criminal complaint does not list a cause of death but does say that the elder Creato "did knowingly cause the death or serious bodily injury resulting in the death of [the child.]

Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

Creato, 22, was taken into custody at 2:15 p.m. and is being held at Camden County jail.
