Frankford parking lot shootout leaves 1 dead; alleged shooter cooperating with police
PHILADELPHIA - A man has died after a shooting in Philadelphia’s Frankford neighborhood late Thursday night.
Emergency personnel responded to a report of a person lying in a parking lot bleeding near Harbison Ave and Tulip Street just after 10:30 p.m.
Responding crews found the victim bleeding from what appeared to be gunshot wounds to his face and head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police began investigating the scene and found a handgun a few feet from the victim’s body, along with 10 spent shell casings.
Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small says the alleged shooter remained at the scene, along with several witnesses.

Small says investigators believe the alleged shooter was with two other individuals when they were met by the victim and weapons were drawn.
Police say a shootout ensued and the victim was struck and collapsed.
Small says the shooter and two witnesses are cooperating with police. The circumstances that led to the shooting remain unknown.
Police say a vehicle parked on the scene was found to have a gun inside, and the vehicle is believed to have belonged to the alleged shooter.
The victim has not yet been identified by police, but police say he appears to be in his late teens or early 20s.
