Gator captured in homeowner's pond

BROOKEVILLE, Md. - (WTTG)-There was an unexpected visitor for a homeowner in Montgomery County Friday morning.

Police say a 3-foot alligator was found in a Koi pond at a home on Denit Estates Drive in Brookeville at around 10 a.m.

After draining the pond, animal control and Department of Natural Resources officers were able to capture the gator.

The alligator has been relocated to the Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo in Frederick County.

Department of Natural Resources Police are investigating how the animal found its way to the pond.
