Girl goes missing on the first day of school; found at former daycare

The first day of school for Josh Kelly's 6-year old daughter London started the way it traditionally does with a picture taken by her proud parents Monday morning. But by the end of the day things took a turn for the worst.

"It was around 5:30 and he called me and said did I pick up London from school. I said no and he said well she's not here at the daycare," said London's Grandmother Corinne Williamson. Her son called her with the terrifying news.

"I proceeded to drive over there as he's riding through the neighborhood looking for London," said Williamson.

London is a first grader at Pollock Elementary School in the northeast. A new afterschool daycare was supposed to pick her up around 3 o'clock when school let out but the family says when dad showed up to get her around 5:30 the school told them London wasn't there.

"She didn't give a call to the mom, myself, my son like nobody letting us know they couldn't find London or that they didn't have London," said Williamson.

The family panicked and even checked with police. London's mom was emotional. Her baby girl also has autism and isn't fully verbal.

"I was really worried. I felt like I was having a heart attack," said Davisha Kelly.

The family was desperate and thought to call London's former daycare wondering if there had been a mix-up. They finally found London, but she hasn't been a student there for two years and wasn't on their pick up list.

"They should have a contact because you're supposed to keep information on file for a year or so but nobody didn't call or do nothing," said Williamson.

The family has a message for the school and daycares involved.

"Be more aware, alert and caring. Treat these kids like they're your children," said London's dad. We left a message this afternoon for both daycares and the Philadelphia School District. We're waiting to hear back from them.

The family says they've gotten no explanation or talk of discipline for anyone involved in the mix-up.
