Good Samaritan rescues 2 people trapped in burning Cape May County salon

A good Samaritan is being credited for rescuing multiple people from a fast-moving fire in Cape May County on Sunday.

The fire broke out at the Chop Shop hair salon off of South Shore Road around 2:30 p.m.

Crews battled a heavy fire on both floors of the building, as well as two vehicles behind it. Three surrounding buildings also started to burn when forefighters arrived.

According to Marmora Volunteer Fire Company, a good Samaritan reportedly used a ladder to rescue people trapped on the second floor.

"A big shout out and thank you to the unkown person who saved those two lives!" the department wrote on Facebook.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
