Gunman shoots man in face, kills him in North Philadelphia

Philadelphia Police are investigating a shooting in North Philadelphia that left one man dead.

The incident occurred on the 4500 block of North Lawrence Street late Sunday night.

Police say that a 21-year-old male victim was shot in the face in front of his dad. His dad then chased after the gunman in the area of 4 th and West Wingohocking Streets.

The suspect then allegedly began shooting at the father at least twice; however, he was not struck by gunfire.

According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, multiple calls to 911 were made after 11 p.m. for shots fired in the area of Lawrence and Wingohocking Streets.

When police arrived, Small says they found the 21-year-old male with gunshot wounds to the face.

After the father chased the suspect and the suspect fired shots at the father, the suspect got into a dark-colored Toyota. He is described as a black male wearing all dark-colored clothing.

As of now, there is no motive for the shooting, but it is believed that the victim was the intended target.

One spent shell casing was found right near the body, indicating that the victim was shot at point blank range.

The victim was pronounced dead at 1:29 a.m.
