Holiday travel off to bad start on Southbound I-95

Holiday travel in Philadelphia was off to a bad start on Southbound I-95 Friday morning.

A truck carrying medical waste hit a temporary concrete Jersey barrier just north of the Allegheny exit.

The truck lost its back wheels after it hit the barrier and traveled 500 feet, coming to a rest and damaging its front axle along the way.

Traffic was backed up for at least 6 miles into Northeast Philadelphia during the morning rush hour.

The truck could not be towed because the back tires were gone. Officials were trying to determine how to tow the truck in order to open up all lanes of I-95 Southbound.
