Lansdale family gets surprise from Carrie Underwood
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) A Lansdale family got a big surprise from singer Carrie Underwood Monday night.
"We really thought we were just going to a concert," said Jonathon and Cara Martin.
However, they got an unexpected surprise Monday night while waiting to attend the Carrie Underwood concert at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Martins were caught off guard when the country music star herself walked in to personally meet them and their daughters 9-year-old Eryca and 8-year-old Taryn.
"It's nice to be able to say thank you, to your whole family really because they are your support unit. For what you do for us," said Underwood about meeting the Martins.
The meet-and-greet was arranged by Operation Homefront, an organization that helps military families and wounded warriors. They are working with Underwood and Carnival Cruise Line to give selected military families a cruise to see Underwood perform agaim. SFC Jonathon Martin is in the army and has served three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. His wife Cara was also in the Army.
"I've been able to sing songs like See You Again where people are like man my husband just left or just came back and that song just means a lot," said Underwood.
The surprise comes just in time for the couple's 10th anniversary.
"We've never been given an opportunity anything like that before and we never even had a honey moon we talked about resorts and cruises. This is an incredible opportunity and we are extremely thankful," they said.
The cruise ship concert will take place in November, pierside at Port of New York.
