Legionella Bacteria Found in Several West Chester University Buildings

Students moving back at West Chester University are heading into the new school year with concerns over Legionnaire's Disease after University officials shut off hot water in six buildings over the weekend.

The buildings include Ruby Jones Hall, Anderson Hall, and People's building, which houses the University's public safety department.

Officials say bacteria from Legionella were found in their hot water systems.

The worries come just weeks after a University employee tested positive for Legionnaire's Disease earlier this summer.

Cooling towers also showed levels of the Legionella bacteria in several buildings back then.

School officials say the hot water systems are being treated to kill the bacteria.
