Local Good Samaritan's luggage for college stolen

PITMAN, N.J. (WTXF)-- A New Jersey teen who founded a charity that donates clothing to the needy found all her luggage for college stolen from the back of her mom's sport utility vehicle.

"I think when you look at the whole situation it seems a little trivial because I still have a place to sleep-- even though I lost some of my items. A lot is replaceable."

She is a local hero in Pitman, New Jersey, because of all she does for others. So when next door neighbor Lisa Sibley got word of what happened she wanted to help.

"I asked what I could do to help and she said. I don't know what anybody can do. I think she was kind of in shock," said neighbor Lisa Sibley.

Lisa says so many people wanted to help that she decided to start a GoFundMe page, which has already been shared hundreds of times with several thousand dollars raised.

"She's amazing and she just started her first semester of college. Everybody's wishing her the best of luck and want to get her off on the right foot."," Lisa explained.

Katelyn and her mom did fly off to college Wednesday night with one single bag, but a lot of support.

"Now I don't have to worry so much about how I will get the money to replace all these things," Katelyn told FOX 29. '"Everyone has been so loving and kind and asking what they can do to help, so I think seeing how people reacted has really warmed my heart."
