Man arrested in car with 13-year-old facing child sex charges

A police officer spotting a suspicious vehicle led to the man inside facing child sex charges.

Warminster police say the officer was on patrol shortly after midnight Sunday near Norwood Road and Nemoral Street.

The officer saw the vehicle running with lights off and two people inside, later identified as Christopher Michael West, 26, and a child.

Police say their investigation found "West had met this 13-year-old through an internet site a few months prior and developed a sexual relationship with this child and had engaged in sexual activity on at least two occasions. Detectives also discovered that West had numerous sexually explicit text conversations with this 13-year-old and also shared sexually explicit photographs and videos."

West, of Glouster, New Jersey, was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault, criminal use of communication facilities and sexual abuse of children.

He's being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
