Man critical after police-involved shooting in Kensington
KENSINGTON (WTXF) - A suspect is in the hospital after being shot by police late Saturday night in Kensington.
A captain on the scene says a car was driving the wrong way down Ruth Street. Two highway patrol officer stopped the car on Kensington Avenue. They say the driver was complying until one of the officers patting down the passenger felt what he believed to be a gun.
Captain Sekou Kinebrew says a struggle ensued, during which the suspect tried to disarm the officer. The officer fired a shot that missed the man. The man then allegedly pulled out his own gun but another officer shot him once in the torso.
Police rushed the suspect to Temple University Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
