Man faces charges in fatal Center City hit-and-run
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police say they have charged a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run that killed a woman earlier this month on Race Street in Center City.
Investigators say 53-year-old Ann P. Broderick, of Kensington, was crossing the street around 3 a.m. on August 6 when a white Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, heading eastbound, struck her in the middle of the road. She died shortly after being transported to the hospital.
Two days after the hit-and-run investigators found a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in a parking lot in Collingdale and towed it to the police garage after a tip. Police executed a search warrant looking for hair, fibers, blood, fingerprints and other evidence. DNA was recovered from the right front wheel well and there was damage to the fender.
According to police, 35-year-old Brendon Hay, of Southwest Philly, faces charges of with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Hay will surrender Monday. He is not the owner of the jeep;however, police say he was the driver that night.
