Mom: 9th-Grader's Homework Was to Make an ISIS Propaganda Poster

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (FOX NEWS INSIDER) - Parents quickly complained after a Utah high school teacher reportedly instructed 9th-graders to draw a propaganda poster for ISIS.

When 14-year-old Mikalia got the assignment, she went online to search "how to recruit for ISIS."

Her mother, Annie Langston, was appalled.

"My initial response was, 'There's no way you're going to do this assignment,'" she told FOX 13.

"In light of what happened in Paris, is that the reason for this assignment? I feel a different assignment or report could've been chosen or a discussion in class about the tragic events," she said.

The teacher has since apologized and canceled the assignment. But not before some kids - including Mikalia - already completed the homework, Heather Nauert said on "Fox and Friends."

"When I found out she kept it, I told her to rip it up," Langston said.
