Mom Arrested for Allegedly Attacking Checkers Employees Over Wait For Food: Police

(INSIDE EDITION)- An alleged drunk Florida woman attacked two Checkers employees and tried to stab the manager after she became enraged by how long it was taking to get her food, officials said.

Jennifer Rider, 39, ordered a hamburger and a hot dog from the drive-through at the Tavares restaurant on East Burleigh Boulevard in Tavares late Saturday, but went inside to see what was taking so long.

When she ordered, she had been told to wait in the parking lot for her food and went inside about the 10-minute wait after her young son complained that he was hungry, according to an arrest affidavit.

Rider confronted a manager about the wait, calling the woman "black b****" and said "you're going to dance for this money," the manager told police.

After she threw a credit card at the manager, who refused to pick it up, Rider attempted to stab the woman with a pair of scissors, the affidavit said.

She knocked the register off the counter, ripping up wires in the process, and jumped over the counter to attack the manager, the court papers said.

Rider hit the manager in the face and then went after another employee who was trying to call 911, smacking that woman and her phone out of her hand.

She then hit and scratched a man who works at the burger joint who told police he was trying to stop the attack.

Rider attempted to leave, but the third employee kept her from pulling out of the parking lot with her young child in tow. She hit him with her car door multiple times, he told police.

Police found Rider in her car crying and screaming with blood on her face from a cut on her forehead. She claimed that hadn't had a drink and that she was attacked by Checkers employees. When she got out of her van, she had trouble keeping her balance and following directions, police said.

The little boy was "shaking and extremely scared," the affidavit said. "Rider kept trying to comfort (him, but he) would shy away from her and hide … (he) said that he did not 'want (her) to fight anyone anymore.'"

Officials called Rider's mother, who took custody of the little boy.

An officer reported seeing a plastic cup in the car with a red liquid that smelled like alcohol.

"The cup had the same liquid in it that appeared to be on the center console and in the passenger seat like it had been spilled everywhere," the affidavit said.

Rider also allegedly fought with the Lake County EMS crew who tried to treat her injuries.

She was charged with battery, criminal mischief, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, tampering with a witness and child abuse, county records show.

She is scheduled to next appear in court December 21. It was not immediately clear if she had an attorney.
