CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - A police officer is being praised for his quick action after saving the life of a 6-year-old boy.
Airport Law Enforcement Division Officer Brad Gunner was off-duty with his family at a restaurant when he saw a young boy choking on his food, according to a post on Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Facebook page.
"Gunner raced over to the child and performed the Heimlich maneuver, saving the 6-year-old boy's life," the post read.
CMPD went on to say that this was not the first time Gunner had attempted to save a life during his 14 year career.
Officer Gunner has been named the CMPD Officer of the Month for July.
