Parents accused of gifting daughter to Bucks Co. man in court
BUCKS COUNTY, PA (WTXF) - The trial against a Pennsylvania couple accused of giving their 14-year-old daughter away to a Bucks County man is expected to begin later this morning.
Prosecutors say Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus told police they gave their daughter to - Lee Kaplan for financial help.
Kaplan is currently awaiting trial on sexual assault charges, after investigators say he fathered two children with the girl and that nine girls found in Kaplan's home were also the Stoltzfus' children.
Last week, prosecutors announced that Kaplan allegedly sexually assaulted five other girls in that family, calling them his wives.
The girls ranged in age from 6 years old to 18 years old during the time of abuse.
Sources had said Kaplan connected with the large Amish family who were about to lose their farm. The parents allegedly offered their oldest daughter, who was 14 at the time, as a gift to Kaplan. The girl, now over 18, told police she and Kaplan had a 3-year-old and a six-month-old.
The girls' father, Daniel Stoltzfus, was charged with conspiracy of statutory sexual assault and children endangerment. Her mother, Savilla Stoltzfus, was charged endangering the welfare of a child.
Kaplan will have a separate trial.
