Eagles' fans get glimpse of Lombardi Trophy as team returns home
The Philadelphia Eagles returned home with the Lombardi Trophy and they greeted fans who eagerly awaited their arrival.
SOUTH PHILADELPHIA - Hundreds of Philadelphia Eagles fans took themselves to South Philadelphia, either to Philadelphia International Airport or to the Novacare Complex to watch as the Birds return home.
Once their airplane landed, team owner Jeffrey Lurie walked off first, holding the Lombardi Trophy high in the air for the fans to enjoy.
Once back at the sports complex, the team got off the buses and into their cars, while the fans lined a driveway, cheering them on and bumping fists through open car windows.
Saquon Barkley shocked and excited fans coming through on a golf cart, with many fans chanting "MVP!"
Eagles' fans greet team at Novacare Complex
As the Philadelphia Eagles returned home triumphant after Super Bowl LIX the fans were only too happy to greet the team at the Novacare Complex in South Philly.
What we know:
The Philadelphia dominated the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday night in Super Bowl LIX, defeating them 40-22.
The team returned home Monday, departing New Orleans and arrived at Philadelphia International Airport about 4:30 in the afternoon.
Hundreds of fans were at the airport awaiting the team’s arrival and hoping for a glimpse of the Lombardi Trophy or a chance to say hi to one of their favorite players.
As the door of the airplane opened, Jeffrey Lurie stepped off the plane and hoisted the Lombardi Trophy for the faithful fans waiting at the gate.
The trophy was then handed to Head Coach Nick Siriana, and then on to GM Howie Roseman.
The players then all stepped off, and the group then walked to gate to greet the fans.
Philadelphia Eagles greet fans as they make their way home
The Philadelphia Eagles returned from New Orleans Monday and they were greeted by a sea of fans along the driveway of the Novacare Complex as they were each in their vehicles making their way to their homes.
What they're saying:
One fan stated, "This is phenomenal. I’m 30-years-old and I got to witness my second Super Bowl championship in my life. It’s insane. This is my father right here and the fact that I’m able to witness this is phenomenal."
Another woman, with a group of coworkers, described the experience of seeing the trophy up close, saying, "He brought it over. It’s like you could just put your hand through the fence. My God, it’s so shiny. It’s so real. It’s so amazing!"
One little girl, flanked by her younger brother and her dad, screamed, "Go Birds! Lombardi Tophy! Yeah! E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!"

FOX 29’s Steve Keeley asked, "Has dad already given you permission to cut school Friday?"
She shouted, "Yeah!"
Her dad responded, "Absolutely! Absolutely!
Keeley asked her dad, "So that means you’re going to help her with the homework Saturday and Sunday?"

"It’s already done, it’s already done," the dad replied. "It’s taken care of. We there."

Back at the Novacare Complex, as the players one after another drove by, fans knew it was a moment they said they wouldn't miss or forget.
Anthony, from Norristown, said, "It’s Super Bowl number two and we’re going to start a dynasty in Philadelphia, Pa!"
"Every Super Bowl is a win for me, because every year calculates my date of birth. 1966, I’m not ashamed of it," Tracey stated. "So this 59th is special because I’m going into a new era next year. We’re going to keep this dynasty rolling. This is incredible."
What's next:
The team and Philadelphia city officials announced a triumphant Eagles parade will take place Friday, February 14th.
Officials also said that the parade route would span from the stadium complex in South Philly to the steps of the Art Museum.

The weather for Friday is looking sunny and dry with temperatures in the 30s.
