Police: 1 dead, 1 injured in Southwest Philly shooting

One man has died and one woman is injured following a shooting in Southwest Philadelphia.

The incident took place on Sunday, October 8 on the 1900 block of South Redfield Street, where officers discovered a 25-year-old man unresponsive inside a home with apparent bullet wounds to his left flank and neck.

Around 11 p.m., officers transported the victim to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police say an initial investigation indicates the victim ran into the house and bolted the door as gunshots permeated the front window and door of the property, striking the victim.

A woman inside the house was reportedly injured falling down the basement steps in an attempt to avoid gunfire.

No arrests have been announced at this time.
