Police: 1 dead after argument leads to shooting in Spring Garden

PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Spring Garden overnight.

Just after midnight, police responded to the 1700 block of Fairmount Avenue, where they found a 34-year-old man on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds outside his car.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Back at the scene, officers found more than a dozen shell casings.

Witnesses say there may have been a prior argument at a bar in the vicinity that ended when a man allegedly opened fire on the victim. The suspect then reportedly jumped into a silver Chevy with a possible tag of 611 and fled the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
