Police: Blind man struck, killed by train

Police say a blind 53-year-old man was killed after he fell onto train tracks and was struck on the Broad Street Line at Race and Vine.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to police, the man stumbled, hit a pole, fell onto the tracks and he was hit by a southbound train. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Service has resumed at City Hall, Spring Garden and Fairmount Stations. No service is available to Race/Vine until further notice. Passengers may experience residual delays of up to 20 minutes.
