Police: Man attempts to lure 3 girls into vehicle in South Philadelphia

Police are warning residents in South Philadelphia about a man who, they say, pulled a knife on some kids and tried to get them into his car. The incident happened while the children were walking to school Friday.

The principal for Bregy Elementary School said in a letter to parents that the incident happened around 8:40 a.m. Friday morning, as three girls were walking to the school, located at 1700 Bigler Street.

Philadelphia police say the girls were met by police at 17th and Morris, which is about a mile from the school. The officers took the girls report of the incident there.

Police say the man reportedly got out of a grey car, pulled a small knife and told the girls to get into his car.

The girls ran away and were not physically hurt.
