Police: Man wounds girlfriend's mother, kills self in Eastwick

Police say a man fatally shot himself after he wounded his girlfriend's mother during a dispute at an Eastwick home.

Officials say the incident began when the man, 37, got into an argument with his girlfriend at a club Saturday evening. The man allegedly left her before returning to his home on the 2600 block of Holbrook Street, where the shooting incident occurred.

The grandmother, 61, managed to escape and get help. She is currently in stable condition at Penn Presbyterian Hospital.

Police say the suspect barricaded himself around 5:30 a.m. When SWAT officers cleared the house just before 7 a.m., they discovered the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
